Many programs include an uninstall feature that can be used to delete the program from your computer. In some cases, this is the only method that will remove the unwanted application. In other instances, it will appear as though the application has been removed, but some of the files might inadvertently remain on your system.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the program folder for the program that you want to remove.
  2. Locate the uninstall file within the program folder.
  3. Double click the uninstall file to start it up and uninstall the program.

  1. Navigate to Start.
  2. Select Programs.
  3. Right click on the program that you want to remove.
  4. Select the option labeled “uninstall,” or “uninstall program,” or similar phrasing.

Windows offers a unique utility tool that allows computer users to add or remove software from their machines. To uninstall your unwanted program using this technique, follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to Start.
  2. Select and open the Control Panel.
  3. Select Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Search through the list that appears for the program that you wish to remove.
  5. Click on the name of the program in the list.
  6. Select the remove option that should appear beneath the list.
  7. Follow any prompts that might appear at this point.

Windows Vista offers a similar utility for removing unwanted or unnecessary applications from your computer. To do so follow this set of easy directions:

Windows Vista Home View

  1. Navigate to Start.
  2. Select and open the Control Panel.
  3. Select Uninstall a Program from among the options listed under Programs.
  4. A list of programs will appear. Simply select the program that you want to uninstall.
  5. Select the option to uninstall. The program should now be removed from your computer.

Windows Vista Classic View

  1. Navigate to Start.
  2. Select the Control Panel.
  3. Double click to open Programs and Features.
  4. Select Uninstall Programs from the options.
  5. A list of programs will appear. Select the program that you want to uninstall.
  6. Select the option to uninstall. The program should now be removed from your computer.
